About Us

The Trauma and Specialist Hospital, Winneba, is a specilaized secondary referal health facility in the Cental region located at Winneba in the Efutu Municipality. It serves as the last referral point for other Hospitals, Health centres and clinics in the Municipality and beyond. The catchment area is Efutu and sorrounding Districts.The Hospital also recieves pateints from Ga South Municipality.Currently, the Hospital serves as the interim Central Regional Hospital. The Hospital is turnkey project where the design,build and equipping of the secondary referal hospital was undertaken by EN-Project(The Projects Division Of Enraf Nonius B.V.).The Project was originally designed as a new District Hospital for Winneba but upon completion converted it to that of a Secondary Referal Facility .

SIMPA ROYALS DAY CARE SCHOOL
The school was an intiative by management and championed by the Hospital Director, Dr. George Prah Kwame. It was built by the hospital management to help carter for babies of Staff.The crѐche provides a place for babies and children to be cared for while their mothers are able to focus on their duties in the hospital.The school started its operations on 8th September, 2019, with only one child named Mitchell Gyatowa on the first day of opening. Currently, the school has nine(9) workers including both teaching and administrative Staffs with a total population of forty-five (45).The facilities available in the school includes flat screen TV for Nursery and crѐche classes to facilitate visual education, Microwave for warming pupils food, Air conditioners installed at the classrooms.

Pharmaceutical Services
The Pharmacy unit ensures that patients recieves medicines appropriate to their clinical needs, in doses that meets thier own individaul requirement for an adequate period of time and at the lowest cost to them and thier community.
Physiotherapy
Utilizies physical modalities to promote, maintain and restore maximum function and movement throuhout an individual's life. Modalities used include Exercises, Infra-red radiation, Laser therapy, Microwave Diathermy, Electrical stimulation therapy and Short Wave Diathermy
Diet. Therapy
Focuses on the prevention of diseases and promotion of health through healthy nutrition and nutritional management plans(such as specail therapeutic diet and entrafeeding) for individauls and groups with differnt types of diseases.
General Surgery
Obsteric and Gynecological surgeries such as Myomectomy, Ceasarean Section, Hysterectomy, Salpingectomy, Orthpaedic Surgeries such as ORIF, External Fixation, Sequrestrectomy, Herniorhaphy, Appendectomy, Hydrocelectomy.
Anaesthesia
Anaesthesia for all Surgeries, Pain Management Services(In-patients and Out-patients), Neonatal Resuscitation, Intensive Care Support, emergency Supportive Services to other Units.

Human Resource (HR)

The HR department sets out to administer Operational and Administratve Support to ensure an effective management in the facility. The HR plays the fundamental role in processing the salary of every active staff within the facility and aslo ensures a smooth transition of information transistion in the facility.

The Unit create and enabling environment for effective Health Care delivery, Revenue Mobilization and Real Time Patient Data Management through a paperless system : Lightwave Health Management System (LHIMS).The unit is resposible for computer Software, Computer Hardware and Network Infrastructure in the facility. SUPPORT FROM GMAD
Ghana Make A Difference's (GMAD's) mission is to protect vulnerable children and to preserve families through self-reliance initiatives in Ghana, Africa. We provide for children who have been abandoned or rescued from children trafficking or who have special needs with food, shelter, Healthcare, education and a loving environment while we work to reunite them with families, or to place them in new permanent families. We provide preparatory traning and follow-up support to ensure the long-term success of child placements and family preservation.
SUPPORT FROM PROJECT TEN
In celebration of 10 years of ‘Trauma and specialist hospital’ Winneba, we are proud to present a fresh pilot project conducted at the Physiotherapy department during July- august 2022. In which, physiotherapists and occupational therapists learned and practiced functional rehabilitation and customization of thermoplastic hand splints and assistive devices. In order to improve physical abilities and independence in daily life activities of patients of all ages and variety of conditions. The project is an initiative of ‘Project Ten’(NGO) - from The Jewish agency for Israel, together with ‘Cassit’ splints and conducted by Shani Halfon, an Israeli occupational therapist. We are looking forward to future collaborations in many areas of expertise in order to continue and improve people’s lives!
SUPPORT FROM FEED THE SICK FOUNDATION
Feed the sick is a non governmental organization founded in 26th December, 2018 at Trauma and Specialist Hospital, Winneba. The foundation is the brainchild of Rev Jerry Anumley Martey, a Psychaitry Nurse in the Hospital. Its Projects is directed to help individuals who lack the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with thier loved ones at home on occasions.We aslo help in paying medical bills for discahrge patients. The foundation promote the welfare of the Sick in a holistic manner.
