The ALFAN Foundation, a UK based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) as part of its usual mandates, donated items and equipment worth over Two Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh₵200,000.00) to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital, Winneba. The donation followed earlier interactions between the Hospital’s Development Planning Committee (Trauma and Specialist Hospital Development Planning Committee “TDPC”) and the Directors of the NGO, where it was identified that computers and other Hospital equipment were urgently needed by the Facility. This was as a result of the present capacity of the Facility as the Central Regional Hospital and the need for more logistics to meet its intended mandate.
The CEO of the Foundation, Mr. Alphorns Hanson reiterated the ALFANS support for healthcare delivery in the country. “He added that, the health sector is very important to ALFAN as we have been engaged in various healthcare related partnerships through, funding of various hospitals, and clinics in the Central Region.”
Dr. Prah George Kwame, the Medical Director of the Hospital Facility received the following, (barely used Computers, Wireless Routers, Pulse Analyser, Dental Autoclave etc.) as donation on behalf of the Hospital Facility.
As receiving the donation, Dr. Prah indicated that, “the hospital currently needs a lot as it is now the upgraded Central Region Hospital. He added that, the donation would go a long way to augment the available but limited logistics in helping to improve the E-health Care Delivery System.
He also encouraged the Foundation to partner with Hospital in order to secure ventilators, incubators and other hospital supplies that will help in healthcare delivery.
He thanked the Foundation for its noble gesture and said it was at the right time and was very much appreciative. He promised that the items will be used judiciously.
